Everything you need, without the noise.

These instructions apply to UniRemind on Android, iPhone/iPad, macOS, and Windows. Small system dialogs can look different, but reminder behavior is shared across every platform.

Important: confirm the time

After changing a time in the system time picker, tap OK to accept it. Closing the picker, pressing Back, tapping Cancel, or dismissing the dialog leaves the previous time unchanged. Check the displayed time before selecting Create reminder or Save changes.

First start and the Today screen

Read the three introduction screens. Use Continue or select a progress dot to move between them.
Select Start remembering less to open Today.
Your Focus counts only active reminders still due today. Today also shows items that passed earlier today and Upcoming — next 3 days; older or later reminders stay in Timeline.
Use Search reminders to filter by title or context. Pull down on the list to refresh on touch devices.
Select Timeline for the wider schedule. List keeps overdue items from today only; Calendar retains every earlier date and reminder.

Create a regular reminder

Select the lime + button.
Enter a title. Context or place is optional and can make the alert more useful.
Keep Planning mode set to Regular.
Choose a date. A new reminder starts with the current date and time; select Now whenever you want to reset both to the current moment.
Choose the time and confirm the system picker with OK. Turn the time switch off for an all-day reminder.
Select recurrence: Does not repeat, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
For timed reminders, enable Notification and choose the lead time. 1440 means one day before.
Select Create reminder.

Birthdays, anniversaries, and occasions

Open the composer and change Planning mode to Birthday, Anniversary, or Observance.
Birthdays and anniversaries default to yearly recurrence.
Observance offers localized suggestions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Programmer’s Day. Choose Custom occasion to enter your own name.
Review the date and recurrence. UniRemind always asks for confirmation before creating a suggested occasion.

Changing back to Regular restores regular defaults. You can still choose any recurrence before saving.

Edit, complete, and delete

Edit: tap or click a reminder card. Change any field, confirm date/time dialogs, then select Save changes.
Complete on touch devices: swipe the reminder to the right to reveal Complete, then tap it. This prevents an accidental swipe from changing the reminder and keeps a history entry.
Edit or delete on touch devices: swipe left to reveal the actions.
Delete on Windows and macOS: use the visible Delete button on the card. A confirmation is required on every platform.
A completed recurring reminder creates its next occurrence. A past non-recurring reminder stays visible in a muted grey style until completed or deleted.

History, recurrence, and timezones

Timeline keeps completed history. Restore a completed one-time reminder or delete an individual entry explicitly. There is no bulk Clear history action.
Recurring reminders can follow the Original schedule or advance from the Completion date.
Custom recurrence supports every N days, weeks, or months, selected weekdays, and optional end date or occurrence count.
Choose an explicit timezone for travel or remote meetings. Review the localized Next notification preview before saving.

Notifications—even when UniRemind is closed

Timed reminders can schedule a lead alert and an exact due-time alert with the operating system. If you create or edit a reminder after its lead time has already passed, UniRemind skips that outdated pre-alert and keeps only the due alert.

Android: allow notifications. Exact-alarm access improves precision when Android offers it; battery optimization, Focus/DND, or explicitly force-stopping the app can affect delivery.
iOS/iPadOS: allow notifications and enable Alerts, Sounds, and the desired banner style in system Settings.
macOS: allow UniRemind notifications in System Settings and choose banners or alerts.
Windows: enable UniRemind under Settings → System → Notifications, including banners and Notification Center.

Normally closing or swiping away UniRemind does not cancel scheduled system notifications. Device power state, notification permissions, Focus/DND, and OS policy still have final control.

After delivery, UniRemind keeps the alert in system notification history until you open UniRemind or dismiss it. Due alerts use the strongest appropriate reminder presentation supported by each platform; banner duration and sound repetition remain under operating-system control. Apple platforms also show an app badge for an unseen alert, subject to system settings and retention policy.

Settings

Theme: System, Dark, or Light. Dark is the default design.
Language: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, or Dutch. The open UI updates immediately.

Quick entry and backup

Supported app shortcuts open a reviewed New reminder or New birthday composer. Android can also send selected plain text to UniRemind.
Quick entry recognizes local today/tomorrow words, common 24/12-hour times, and ISO dates. Always review the composer before saving.
In Settings, select Export backup, choose a local or available Files/provider folder in the native save picker, and confirm the filename. UniRemind reports the saved path.
Import backup opens the native file picker and asks for confirmation. The whole versioned JSON file is validated before matching reminders are updated and notifications rescheduled.
Backups contain readable reminder details. Store them somewhere private; UniRemind does not upload them.

Private photo import

Open Scan schedule, then choose an image or take a photo. A straight, well-lit, tightly framed schedule works best.
Recognition and date parsing run locally on this device. UniRemind does not upload or retain the source image or raw recognized text.
Review every candidate. Edit its title, date, time, or recurrence, and remove or deselect anything that should not be imported.
Select Import selected. UniRemind uses a regular one-time reminder unless the text clearly indicates a recurrence.
Use Most recent import to edit or remove individual imported reminders, or undo the remaining batch after confirmation.

Storage, recurrence, and sorting

Reminders are stored locally in UniRemind’s private SQLite database on this device.
Upcoming items are ordered by their next occurrence. Sorting happens after creation, editing, deletion, completion, or a reminder boundary—not every second.
Recurring reminders advance to their next valid date after triggering or completion.
Cross-device accounts and synchronization are planned but are not available today. Each installation currently has its own reminders.

Broad private image understanding

Choose Calendar or schedule for agenda/day/week/month/multi-month images, or Birthday list for typed or handwritten name-and-date lists.
Review every proposed title, date, time, and recurrence. Ambiguous numeric dates are flagged and existing reminders are never overwritten.
In either New reminder or Edit reminder, use the separate Scan action beside Details or Meeting link. Review the selected field and save the reminder normally.
Tapping a reminder or its notification opens the read-only details view. A valid meeting link can be opened there or from the notification Join action.
The original image, derived images, and raw OCR text are processed locally and discarded; only details you approve are stored.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my selected time not change?

The operating-system time dialog only commits the selection after you tap OK. If you dismiss it, UniRemind correctly keeps the previous value. Open it again, choose the time, tap OK, and verify the displayed time before saving.

Why did I receive only one notification?

If the reminder was created inside its selected lead window, the pre-alert time was already past, so UniRemind intentionally schedules only the exact due-time alert. Set the reminder farther into the future to test both alerts.

Why did no notification appear?

Confirm the reminder has a time, its Notification switch is enabled, and UniRemind is allowed in system notification settings. Also check Focus/DND and platform power restrictions. On Windows, enable both banners and Notification Center; on Android, avoid force-stop when testing.

Can I make an all-day reminder?

Yes. Turn off the switch beside the time. All-day reminders are listed by date but do not schedule a timed system alert.

How do I change or stop recurrence?

Open the reminder, select Repeat, choose the new recurrence or Does not repeat, then select Save changes.

Does deleting the app delete my reminders?

Reminder data is local app data, so uninstalling normally removes it. Export a backup to a location you control before uninstalling if you may need to restore reminders later. Automatic cross-device synchronization is not currently available.

Where is an exported backup saved?

Export backup opens the operating system’s native save picker. Choose local storage or an available Files/cloud-provider folder and confirm the filename. UniRemind displays the resulting path after a successful save.

Can I import reminders from a photo?

Yes in UniRemind 2.0. Open Scan schedule, choose or capture an image, and review every proposed reminder before importing. Recognition stays on the device, and the latest import can be corrected partially or undone completely.

Are SMS alerts available?

Not yet. SMS notification delivery remains a planned connected capability.

Where can I report a problem?

In UniRemind Settings, select Report a bug. Your email app opens to contactaacore@gmail.com with the subject already filled in. Add your platform, OS version, UniRemind version, and clear reproduction steps, but do not include private reminder content.
